Gender Equality

Equality between women and men is one of the fundamental human rights and a necessary condition for the growth, employment and social cohesion of societies. Principles of gender equality must not be restricted on grounds of religion, culture or tradition. They must be guaranteed in order to ensure that women and girls can fully and truly enjoy them.

Our key objective is to help our partners to build national capacity and ownership, to enable them to formulate gender-responsive laws and policies and to scale up successful strategies to deliver on national commitments to gender equality in accordance with international agreements such as the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
